What is the difference between the LG LB5600 and the newer model LG LF5600? The price is lower for the newer LF5600. Why?
The two are pretty much identical, so we can't explain why the price for the newer model is lower.

What version of HDMI does this TV support?
Likely at least HDMI 1.3a. The features enabled by HDMI 1.4 and higher aren't available on this TV, so whether or not it supports those is a little irrelevant.

The LF5600 is the 2015 model, and it replaced the LB5600. They're pretty much the same TV.

Can I connect my laptop to the LF5600?
Most likely. If you have an HDMI output on your laptop, just connect it to the TV with an HDMI cable and you'll be all set.

Is the LF5600 a full HD TV? And why somewhere I see tv with 1080P and other Full HD, I thought it was the same.
The LF5600 is full HD. Full HD is the same as 1080p.

My 96 year old father who is very hard of hearing has the 42LF5600 TV and has a terrible time hearing from 8 feet away. I bought him some expensive head phones which plugged into the the audio jack (there is no earphone jack) in the back but he didn't like having his ears "totally blocked". Next I bought expensive BOSE speakers (2) and couldn't get the proper wires to connect everything. The speakers were for a computer and the connectors didn't fit the rear jacks on the TV. I guess I'm going to try a surround sound setup and put a couple of speakers right next to his head. Do you have any other suggestions? I've tried everything the Best Buy techs could come up with. It used to be so easy to just clip a couple of wires on the TV and run speakers.
The only audio out port on the LG LF5600 is the optical out. To widen your options you could always use a cheap external DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) so to be able to use conventional analog speakers/headphones. A surround sound system is also a good idea but you need to get one that is able to play stereo sound from the rear speakers or else dialog won't come out of those speakers. A 2.1 or even 2.0 system would do too with the speakers closer to your father. There is also 'open-back' headphones on the market that doesn't isolate or cut out environment sounds as much as traditional headphones. Your father might like that better but they are on the expensive side.

What is the source you are using? The easiest way would be to press the 'Ratio' button on your remote and choose an option that covers the screen. Keep in mind that the image will be cropped or distorted, but there's no way to make the image fill the screen without that happening.

Those are model numbers from different countries. Since they are similar you can expect the TVs to be similar too. Manufacturer's usually follow a pattern with model numbers that can be deciphered. Take for example 42LF5600: the first 2 numbers represent the screen size, L means the type of screen (LED), F is the year (2015), the first number that follow (5) is the series, the number after that (6) is the model in that specific series and the third one (2) is a change in design. The letter "v" is the tuner. In the U.S. you only have one kind of tuner so no letter is needed. You can expect the 562v to be similar to the lf5600.

No it isn't Bluetooth compatible.

How did you know the screen was IPS? LG's website doesn't list this TV as IPS. They usually do as a selling feature for the TV.
The best way to tell is looking at a close up of the pixels. The pixels of IPS panels looks like little arrows. Check our close-up picture of the pixels on the LF5600 here.
