10 ANSWERED QUESTIONS
Does it support movies (from flashdrive) with DTS audio?
It can't read movie files at all.
Does the 39" have an IPS panel? I read the review of the 39" on reviewed.com and that size got very good results for contrast and black levels, and mediocre viewing angles.
No, it doesn't. There are no 39" IPS panels on the market, which explains the results of the review you read.
I want to know how to put the TV in 1080p, please. Thanks.
Your TV will display 1080p by default. If you're not getting full quality from the resolution, it will be because your source is not sending a 1080p signal.
Does it support HDMI ARC?
I have a movie in six different formats: Mkv, avi, divx, wmv, etc, etc. The LG 42LB5600
will not recognize any of them. My VIZIO 55in 4k reads every one on the same USB flash drive. It is a 2.0 16GB drive, which is recommended. Desperately seeking answers as to why it doesn't work.
Your LG TV can't read video files, so you'll need to connect a different device that can. A PC running the VLC media player
will be able to handle just about any media file, so your best bet would be to connect one to your TV via HDMI and use that.
Does it have a game mode?
Yes, but every mode has the same low input lag, so you can use any of them.
We have a Vizio Blu-Ray player that won't work when plugged into the HDMI port. Is there a possible compatibility issue? Other ideas?
Compatibility should not be a problem. Make sure you selected the corresponding HDMI Input number on the TV. Also, your Blu-ray player might output on another connection. Check the manual for the player to troubleshoot it.
Why does the volume mute when I change channels? I have to turn power off and back on to get the sound to come back on.
This is not normal. Call LG.
Hello, I just got the 42lb5600
and I'm very pleased with the price and quality, but I just found out that some stores are selling the 49lb5550 for about the same price I paid for the former. Now I'm thinking about maybe getting the 49" because I'll be gaining 7", but I'm worried about the input lag and the sound! Any suggestions, please?
We didn't review the LB5550, so unfortunately we can't offer a direct comparison for input lag, and we did not test for sound with last year's TVs. It's likely that the TV would have similar input lag to the other LG models, though, so it's probably somewhere between 27 and 45 msecs.
Can you play music off your phone through the TV?
Yes, but not wirelessly. You would need a cable that could either connect your phone to HDMI or to the audio input.
